(Oct 26, 1949 – Apr 13, 2015) – Raymond Massicotte had a heart attack and passed away suddenly on April 13, 2015 in Barriere, BC. He was 65 years old. Born in Massey, Ontario on October 26, 1949, Ray will be greatly missed by many people, including his brother Leonard (Joanne) of Prince George, BC; his sister Marjorie of Barriere; his daughter Tammy (Darryl) of Barriere; sons Norman (Sarah) of Kamloops, BC and Stephen of Logan Lake, BC; grandchildren Bryce of Barriere, Jordon and Cherish of Kamloops; numerous nieces and nephews; step grandchildren Amy, Chrisine, Tory, Cherish and Kasandra; as well as many lifelong friends. He will also be missed by his animal companions Rex, Princess and Precious. Raymond was predeceased by his dad, Lionel Massicotte of Barriere; mom Shirley Shaw of Edmonton; his brother Norman Massicotte of Prince George; and sister Florence Siemens of Barriere.
Like so many people in the North Thompson Valley, Raymond dedicated most of his life to the forest industry. He was a loader operator for Tolko Industries for 34 years. Outside of work, however, Ray was a dedicated member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 242 (Barriere) and he enjoyed being outdoors. Softball was a passion for Ray, whether it was coaching, playing or just being a spectator. He will be remembered for coaching baseball and for the camping trips. Ray also loved watching his grandchildren – he would go the extra mile for his grandbabies. He was always willing and ready to lend a helping hand, and he’ll be remembered for driving around town with his music loud!
A Memorial Service for Raymond Massicotte will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Lions’ Hall in Barriere, BC. Donations in memory of Raymond Massicotte to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
