Most people are choosing cremation these days. Our price for Cremation with no memorial service (often referred to as a “simple cremation”) is $2137.75.
This price includes the cremation, all service fees and overhead charges, a wood container for the body and a wood urn for the ashes, a death certificate, the Consumer Protection fee, GST and PST. It doesn’t include an obituary, mileage (first 50 KM free, after that it’s $1.50 per KM), the removal of a pacemaker if required ($125). Note that we use a wood container for the body and for the ashes. We don’t use cardboard or plastic. Probably 90% of our clients choose this option and pay this price. No surprises.
If the choice is Cremation with a Celebration of Life, the cost is $3271.75. This price includes everything listed above, plus the extra staffing costs for organizing and attending the celebration of life. If you wish to hold your own celebration of life (i.e. we don’t organize or attend), we have a book to help you. It’s called “Drake’s Guide to the Last Goodbye – How to Hold a Celebration of Life.” It’s free.
If you choose a Graveside service (body to be buried in a cemetery), it’s $4,021.30 (including a casket, but not the cemetery charges). An Open Casket funeral is $5,071.30 and a Closed Casket funeral is $4861.30. Both prices include a casket but not cemetery charges.
