(Apr 22, 1931 – Jan 15, 2015 ) – Delia Anne Bates passed away suddenly, of heart failure, in Kamloops, BC on January 15, 2015 at 83 years of age. Born in North Battleford, SK on April 22, 1931 to parents Joseph and Charlotte Taphouse, Delia was predeceased by her parents, and by her brothers Theo Taphouse and Terry Taphouse. Delia leaves behind her husband, Fred, of Kamloops, BC, daughter Connie (Keith) Scott; son Gerald (Tina) Jensen; in-laws Margie and Chuck Alexander; granddaughter Tina Scott; grandson Victor (Jen) Jensen; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
Delia worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia for many years. She enjoyed gardening, stitching and keeping a good home. Delia liked historical shows and many different types of puzzles. At this time of year, she would get “itchy fingers” – seeds would come out and the planting would begin. She enjoyed working the ground and watching things grow. She created many stitch projects over the years, —both knitting and cross stitch—which graced the walls of their home. Delia was always willing to help a neighbour and a friend; she was a person you could always count on. Despite being allergic to cats, she always had cats in her home; she loved them and they loved her.
Delia’s granddaughter remembers that the cookie jar was always full – a happy child memory. Delia knew how to re-use things, to remake and make the most out of everything – a true talent which seems lost today.
At her request, there will be no memorial service for Delia. Donations in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the BSCPCA or to the Humane Society would be appreciated.Print This Obituary & Condolences
